September 11 concerts

Since 2002, "The September Concert Foundation" has been organizing hundreds of free concerts throughout the world every September 11 on the anniversary
of the attacks on the Twin Towers.  The ambition of this initiative is to trasform a date that has entered into the collective memory as a symbol of contrast
and conflict into a moment of peace and harmony through the celebration of music, a universal language that conquers all barriers and diversities.

On Friday, September 11th, 2009, Rome will be peacefully invaded with notes of jazz, rock, swing, soul, gospel and classical music. Young artists and professional
musicians will play free concerts at a variety of locations throughout the city and in the piazzas.

Closing the day of events, there will be a special gala concert at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in the Santa Cecilia Hall.  The great Maestro Lorin
Maazel will direct the September Concert Orchestra and the Santa Cecilia Chorus in Beethoven's 9th Symphony, the most universal musical declaration of
peace and brotherhood of man and not by chance the official anthem of the European Union as well as the only musical score that UNESCO calls a treasure
for all humanity.  Il Gioco del Lotto invites the public to attend the open dress rehearsal of this concert at the Auditorium on September 10th at 8:30
pm. No tickets are required for the dress rehearsal and entrance is on a first come, first served basis.

Tickets for the concert on September 11th can be picked up at the Auditorium Box Office on September 9th and 10th from 11.00-18.00 at viale P. De Coubertin
30.  For complete information on all locations, times and to view the whole program, please visit
