Alternative Energy Conference

The Professional Women's Association (PWA) of Rome invites
you to our next networking meeting on:

Wednesday Nov. 18, 2009 at the
Rose Garden Hotel (Via Boncompagni, 19) at 7:00 PM on

"Renewable energy, sustainable and alternative sources"
by Paolo Riccardo Felicioli, Consultant

Global warming is a result of human activities and
specifically of energy consuming activities. Since our main
sources of energy are carbon-based we are emitting carbon
and other GHG at a higher rate than the natural environment
is able to absorb. With CO2 concentration at about 430 parts
per million (ppm) and steadily increasing we are taking the
risk of augmenting temperature of more than 2 degrees
Celsius within the next few years.
One of the main strategies to avoid global warming and to
safeguard economic growth is to develop renewable energies
which are carbon free: wind, solar, tide, hydro, biomasses.
A further option is represented by nuclear power. We will
analyse these options and their economic and social impacts
and try to figure out a possible configuration of our energy
supply that is compliant with the objectives of  both
dramatically decrease carbon emissions and ensure equitable
economic and social development.
